Lechler chooses Platinun® for paint cans Lechler has chosen new general line container Platinun® for its latest range of paints. The new can has been created out of polymer-coated steel by Gruppo ASA, Italy’s leading maker of cans for the paint and edible oil markets. Emilio Amati, President of Gruppo ASA says: “Platinun offered us the best of plastic and steel: corrosion resistance, strength, printability and appeal. It is also 100 per cent recyclable.” This is the first major application for the new container, which is being produced on a dedicated new line at Gruppo ASA. The company worked closely with supplier Corus Packaging Plus on all aspects of its development. Gruppo ASA’s quality manager and head of product innovation and development, Francesco Amati, says, “Corus is becoming more and more important to us, not just as a supplier, but as a partner for technical developments,” says Francesco Amati. “Together we are trying to do things in a different way, introduce new products and work towards higher efficiency in can making.” Platinun has attracted a great deal of interest among paint manufacturers and is expected to have a big impact. The container is UN-approved for a wide range of uses including dangerous goods transportation. About Platinun ®:
