Protact® from Corus Packaging Plus has been selected by UK can maker William Say & Co as its material of choice for paint can components. William Say & Co is excited by the benefits that Protact polymer-coated steel offers, both for a better pack performance as for the opportunity to standardise coatings. Explains William Say Managing Director, Peter Wilkinson: “Protact enables us to standardise our specifications by having a consistency of material across all our range of components - bottoms, rings and lids. We don’t have to keep a variety of stock because we use fewer specifications. Previously we sometimes had conflicting views about what material would be suitable for a particular ring; this is now solved. Also with Protact, lid retention is undoubtedly far better.” “Thanks to the excellent pack performance that Protact offers, our customers are now able to use a very broad range of fillings, even more aggressive and hard-to-hold fillings. We are also thinking of going into new market areas we’ve not entered before, like food for instance. Protact fully complies with EU food contact regulations and overcomes many of the issues associated with recent legislation.” Protact for excellent pack performance and ‘one size fits all’ Protact offers excellent pack performance. It offers can makers and brand owners the total solution for paint packaging, as it delivers the highest resistance against a wide range of water-based and solvent-based paints and hard-to-hold fillings. The latest research from Corus shows just how effective Protact PP and PET is compared to lacquers. Its unique PET coating integrity, durability and scratch and abrasion resistance protects both the inside as well as the outside of the paint can, also against corrosion. Furthermore, Protact enables can makers to standardise coating specifications with a ‘one size fits all’ approach, which in turn will deliver costs saving and increased flexibility.
