Corus Packaging Plus harmonises distribution safety standard for cutplate

15 Sep 2006

As from 1st September 2006 a new and improved load securing method for cutplate transports has been implemented across Corus Packaging Plus sites in The Netherlands (IJmuiden), United Kingdom Trostre), Norway (Bergen)) and Belgium (Duffel).

“This is an important step towards further improvement and harmonisation of safety standards across our multi-national organisation,” says Wim Hamers, Director Commercial.

“With the agreed securing method, together with a 100% check on all inbound and outbound truck loads, we expect to further improve the safety of the loading and transport of steel products.”

Another important goal of introducing the new standard is to reduce the processing time of loading material. The new load securing standard is applicable to all ‘customer collect’, ‘delivered’ (DDP/DDU) and return transports.

The regulations and the full details of the new securing method are also described in the recently updated Corus IJmuiden Regulations for External Road Transport of Steel and Rolling Mill Products. This document is available in English and Dutch.
